Module Description
|
1. Sustainable Construction 建築持續發展 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to know which features of the natural environment need to be protected and understand how the activities of the construction and built environment sector impact on the natural environment. Learners will also find out about how the natural environment can be protected against these activities, including the use of sustainable construction techniques.
2. Surveying in Construction and Civil Engineering 土地測量 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to develop skills in linear and levelling surveys, measuring angles and setting out of small buildings
3. Health Safety & Welfare in Construction 建築職安健 This unit enables learners to understand the responsibilities of employers and employees and the control measures used to reduce risk and meet legal requirements. They will gain knowledge of how to undertake risk assessments and accident recording and reporting procedures.
4. Maths in Construction and Built Environment建築計算學 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to use mathematical techniques and methods to manipulate and/or solve formulae, equations and algebraic expressions. Learners will be able to select and apply mathematical, geometric, trigonometric, graphical and statistical techniques to solve practical construction problems.
5. Construction Technology and Design in Construction 建築設計方法及步驟 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to gain knowledge of construction methods and factors that influence design, and develop skills in communicating ideas between team members and in translating construction details into written and graphical instructions
6. Science & Materials in Construction 建築材料 This unit develops learner knowledge of the factors that affect human comfort, the performance criteria applicable to construction materials, and the techniques used to produce such materials. They will also gain an understanding of how forces act on structures, construction materials and the techniques used to prevent and remedy their deterioration.
7. Further Maths in Construction 工程數學 This unit aims to enable learners to develop skills in applying transposition of formulae, arithmetical methods, calculus and statistics to construction engineering problems.
8. Measurement Techniques in Construction 建造工作測量 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to develop the skills required to apply measurement techniques to produce a bill of quantities.
9. Project in Construction and the Built Environment建築項目管理及計劃 This unit aims to enable learners to develop the skills needed to specify, plan and implement a project relating to construction and the built environment, and then present the project outcomes to an audience.
10. Tendering & Estimating in Construction 估算及投標文件 This unit will give learners the opportunity to develop knowledge of the information needed to produce a tender, an understanding of how different types of tender documentation are used, and to develop skills needed to calculate unit rates for an element or trade section of a bill of quantities and produce a tender.
11. Building Technology in Construction 建築技術 This unit aims to give learners the opportunity to gain an understanding of common forms of low-rise construction, including the design and construction of their foundations, the techniques used in the construction of superstructures and the implications of issues and constraints on building construction.
12. Conversion & Adaptation 樓宇擴建及修改 The aim of this unit is to enable learners to gain an understanding of the reasons for, and to know the processes involved in the conversion and adaptation of buildings, and to develop skills in the design and evaluation of the conversion and adaptation of buildings. |
